Grindfest!

And so our story continues

The adventurers have had a harried battle with devils and demons. After some regretful pacts were made, the party has made it through with nary a scratch among them. The group has decided to rest inside a magical mansion, created by one of their own. And so the story continues…

Comments

“Marcusio while I enjoy laying about as much as anyone, I don’t believe we will get much done this way. Shall we attempt to rouse our cohorts”

And so our story continues

“It is at your leisure brother of mine. Though it was something of an ordeal we all have endured. The reanimated remains of a Dragon attempting to deanimate us. Duels with devils, both with words and weapons. Its a lot for anyone let alone mortals like they.”

And so our story continues

“Like they, or rather like them, objective case my dearest brother. Perhaps you should have paid more attention in class. Further more you are not truly immortal yourself there brother, as if that was not painfully obvious. In any event I suppose you are correct. I am hungry though, shall we ajurn to the dining room? I’ll have Gerald make us some dinner.”

And so our story continues

“Supper sounds wonderful, the lamb. Also my mortality ranges between death and undeath, I’ll be the judge of where and when. And no cases really are only useful for carrying things.”

And so our story continues

“Your mental prowess is absolutely stunning, it never ceases amaze me. I hope that desiscion does reamain yours brother, it would be terrible to go through that again. As for the lamb, I believe that could be arranged, I shall check with our compatriots, and meet you ther momentarily.”

And so our story continues

“I believe that is a slight I shall ignore mon frere. I shall meet you all there then.”

And so our story continues

I shall then go and locate our party members and assertain as to weather or not they would enjoy sustanance.

And so our story continues

As I walk out of the room I shall turn back to my brother “It’s good to be active again, brother, and I meant what I said, let’s not go through that again”

And so our story continues

I shall assume that they are resting in one of the spare rooms, and so I will start there. When I go to see Malthruin, I see him sharpening an odd sword, staring, while not looking at anything. “Malthruin, uhm, so, hey. We are going to eat (one of the only things, I trust you to do). We’ll be having Lamb, now thats pronounced L-a-M, I know its more ellegant than you are used to, so if you feel insecure I can prepare something more suitable for you like, goblin, rat, dirt, whatever you want.” I shall then go to Anthony who I assume is near by “Anthony, if you would grace us with you presence (pun intended) in the dining room, my servant Gerald, is making his specialty, Lamb. Its a real treat so if you care to join, just head on down”

And so our story continues

Malthruin “Hmm…what? Oh yes, lamb, sounds good.” He still seems entranced by the sword.
Anthony “Oh, thank you. Some food would be great after all…that. When will it be ready?”

And so our story continues

“In just a few minutes, in fact by the time you get there it should be finished.” I shall then turn to walk to the laudry to see if Gerald needs any assistance. As I walk away I think to myself, he is bein odd even for him, well maybe its just the stress, his mind is small. Oh well supper time.

And so our story continues

Anthony shows up on time for dinner, despite his slow step, seemingly convincing Malthruin to come along. Malthruin is strangely quiet and distracted, only speaking when spoken to, and even then it is almost…forced.

And so our story continues

“So everyone take their seats. Marcusio, I think we should get some of the good wine. Do you agree.” I will make another jab at the big one, to see if I can get a response "Now that’s wine, its a drink for intelligent people, twice in one day, haing to explain what we are consuming. Spesking of which, how is the L-a-m

And so our story continues

Malthruin grunts, then quickly washes down the wine like a cheap beer. He seems almost confused as he reacts to it, like he hadn’t noticed what was poured in the glass. “Mmm, pretty good. I’m sorry, I wasn’t really…listening…the lamb is good.” Anthony looks to his friend with some concern on his face. “He must be more tired than I realized. Maybe some sleep, or exercise would soothe your mind Malthruin.”

And so our story continues

“Our draconic friend has never been one for fine food, I believe his palette is to deformed. Dragons don’t tend to care much for their breed stock. So long as its pseudo warm they’re usually content.”

And so our story continues

“Quite right brother, however I do remember them being smarter. Maybe this one is broken”
I than say to my brother quietly in our secret tongue “I fear there may be some truth to what I said. Pay attention to him, I think we best be alert.”

And so our story continues

Similarly “Hmm he does seem more distracted. Maybe these events have worn on him more than we.” Aloud and in common. “Well unlike the uncouth lizard, I will enjoy my wine.” Marcusio settles into his chair, eyes closed and his glass held delicately.

And so our story continues

Guillame then feels the familiar taping of his brother’s mind to his own. He seems more confused than anything in his mind. The most I gather is that this may have genuinely perturbed him, he is having feelings of sadness towards Antony and cautious towards us. He may desire to leave us now.

And so our story continues

I agree brother, I feel as though he is more confused about it, he seems unnaturally daft, as if preoccupied. I worry, trials like these are hard enough on a solid mind. I then seek to lighten the mood, and begin entertaining my guests. I will start by recalling, some folk songs, originating from the birth places of my cohorts. “I think its time for a bit of fun, and as we’ve had the wine, and I don’t see any women” then I change my form to appear as a fair maiden “But Guillame what about me?” then I change back “I said women not trollops, geez, always with that one” then back “oh why, I’ll get you for that” “sure you will, anyway how about some song. I think You’ll find this one familiar Anthony” I then grab my lute and begin to sing and play.

And so our story continues

Marcusio’s smile is hard to detect but no less present, as he loses himself in his brother’s games.

And so our story continues

“Next a story from our past. Shall I regail everyone with the history of the Chesnakovs, or maybe an epic tale of heroics, valiantry, and chivalry. Hmm no I believe, maybe a more serious tale (and with that the lights grow dimmer and, and only my face is illuminated) a tale which could shake you to the bones, but perhaps we have seen enough sadness. (the lights then come back up) So how about a comical tale, with laughter, and joy. Hmm So what shall it be then (then as I say each option, the apropriate expression mask covers my face) Comedy, Drama, or Horror?”

And so our story continues

Anthony chimes in “I think comedy would do us all some good.” He looks pointedly at Malthruin and pats his shoulder.

And so our story continues

“The gentleman wants a comedy. Very well, I believe that can be arranged” In my brothers head “I want you to pay attention to their thoughts” aloud "I shall now depicts the story of “The Wanderer” but first a more comfortable setting" we shall then suddenly appear in the house theater “bet you didn’t know I could that huh” The story I will depict is a comical improvisation of our cohorts history, under the mask of a common folk tale. I want to see how they respond to it.

And so our story continues

clever, brother. Marcusio makes himself comfortable in his new surroundings.

And so our story continues

I know

And so our story continues

mirth touches from Marcusio’s mind_ Antony is fairly unaware of you’re sub story and quite enthralled. Malthruin is still detached, when you’re at your height (punch lines, crescendos, or cue dramatic strings he is drawn back here. Otherwise I cannot perceive what has has occupied his mind._

And so our story continues

Well I suggest we rest then, I need eight hours before I will be ready to continue through this “dungeon” we should guage their reactions after some rest I will then bring the story to a dramatic conclusion, with a more than over the top finale, exhausting almost all of the energy I have left for dramatic flair. “I hope you all enjoyed the show, but I must rest, its hard being such a star. I shall gather you all in the morning, and we shall continue our adventure rested and primed for excitement.”

And so our story continues

Likewise After his brother finishes the show but before he begins his post show hamming, Marcusio slips from the room to rest.

And so our story continues

I will guide our partners to their rooms, and take my leave. After eight hours I will rise collect the party and russel up some grub to feed our adventuring hungers

And so our story continues

Lured down by the smell of food, Antony and Malthruin arrive at breakfast. “Something smells delicious!” Antony exclaims.

And so our story continues

“Why thank you, I was beggining to wonder if anyone was going to show. Now eat up, we have a large day of “adventuring” ahead of us, and momma always told me “never adventure on an empty stomach, and always search for invisible traps”, and no one disobeys momma"

And so our story continues

“Funny, my grandma used to say the same thing…” Antony seems puzzled, then looks to sit down at the table.

And so our story continues

“As I recall, it was an invisible trap that fell dear Uncle Marciel.” Marcusio sits at a nearby chair, with an air as though he has been waiting for someone to begin serving the food.

And so our story continues

MARCUSIO GET DOWN HERE. Hmm you know the more I think about it, the less usefull I think that was, considering THE SIZE OF THIS PLACE, now that was more for fun. Try it, if you aim right into that corner, the echo is incredible, I designed it that way myself.”

And so our story continues

“I know brother. You were doing ‘maths’ for a week to get it right.” Marcusio looks pointedly at his empty plate.

And so our story continues

“Maths? and I was not talking to you, if you didn’t know that why I might just cry. Maube if you came on time, your food would be on time too.”

And so our story continues

After we consume our breakfast, I emplore the party “Mkae any necessary preperations, and gather their courage, excitement awaits, adn we best not keep it waiting.”

And so our story continues

“I’ve been waiting hours dear brother for any food.” After eating Marcusio nods agreement with Guillame and stands by his side.

And so our story continues

“Then shall we head out?” Anthony asks, leading towards the door.

And so our story continues

“Yes I beilieve it’s time, if you are all ready” Once everyone is prepared, I will usher them to the door, and exit the mansion. Once back in the dungeon I will look around and say with a smirk “Well I don’t remember it being this pretty” I will then take to stealth, and walk beside the others.

And so our story continues

Marcusio exits the mansion and waits for Antony and Malthruin. After they’ve left, he takes a position ahead of Malthruin and Antony letting his brother scout.

And so our story continues

After walking outside and getting ready to explore, the brothers hear a sickening wet thud behind them. Upon turning around, they see Malthruin, with Antony impaled on his sword, his eyes already glazed over in death. Antony’s limp body lies on the ground, a strange red light overtaking it before quickly extinguishing. Malthruin looks at both of them with an evil glint in his eyes, holding his sword up.

And so our story continues

After seeing the horror betrayal, a palpable anger grows from the shadows. Then a feint shadowy figure appears in front of Malthruin its appearance to an on looker only vague, but to him terror. His eyes widen, his pulse increases, sweat pures from every inch of his skin, and his breath grows deathly short. “Why, he was your friend, you killed him. You betrayed, the only person who cared for you, your a monster, a vile, worthless pile of filth. You discust me, and so you must die. Die from your own fears, you own insecurity, you hae killed yourself, your soul is forfeit to suffer. You deserve nothing less, and I am glad to watch you burn” As each phrase is spoken the shadow moves closer to the vile creature, as he steps back, and falls to the ground, closer, closer, and only just before his final breath does he utter a shout of pain to wrack through the very soul. I will then drop out of invisibility, and look to my brother “We have seen innocence destroyed here today. The world has suffered a great loss. Marcusio, we have seen far to much innocence lost in our lives, let us not allow this to happen again. I suggest we keep Anthony’s body and prepare a proper burial, and desecrate the other.”

And so our story continues

Marcusio can only nod in grim silence. He walks to Guillame and places a reassuring hand on his brother’s shoulder the other over his heart. “It seems to be our lot in life brother. Take Antony into your demnse. I believe we have tomes as to proper rituals under his god, if you cant recall just now.” Slowly he seems to drift to the remains of the traitor. “The darker side of our work has always been my task.” He lifts the corpse and fades into a blackness deeper than any other and leaves this realm behind.

And so our story continues

“Very well, brother” I will quickly deposit the corpse in my and have my servant take care of stowing it to a later date in a way such that it wont decay before we can care to the ritual. I will then return and take back to stealth as I fade away saying “Marcusio, let’s get back to the dance”

And so our story continues

“As always my brother.” The shadows whisper as Marcusio returns to this plane.

And so our story continues
